Unit 3

Physical Well Being

I rate myself for physical well-being a 6. I am highly active and a very busy mom, I like to ensure we all get enough fresh air and outside time every day. With that being said, 6 isn’t the best number, there is always ways to be better. Growing and enhancing your physical fitness is always something that can be done for a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle. I actually plan on starting a circuit training in the morning, just because I do not like workouts going stale, and more yoga. I make it a vow to add more yoga in my life.

Spiritual Well Being

This is lacking in my life. I rate myself a 3. I have had a very hard time lately, as I stated in a discussion post prior, I feel like my life is in a gray area. Things are tough, just like for everyone. Everyone goes through these times and it is up to me to get into my subconscious and yank on my inner self, to pull myself out of my static funk. Work isn’t going well and school so far this has been my worst term so far and finances are of course trying. Searching for answers within me through relaxation and meditation will help pull me out of this. Spiritual awakening is virtually something that will take me so much further into my wholeness.

Psychological Well Being

My psychological well-being is ranked at a 4. This is mind over matter and getting my mind body connection in tune, which it is not. Stress and overwhelming life factors have put my emotions in a tough place, but it is only I who can get myself out. I am social and pleasant to be around and very friendly so it isn’t any part of the social aspect I lack in. It is the emotional baggage at the end of the day that makes me feel like things are out of hand. The stress I endure, like all busy working moms can get overwhelming, and it affects my inner wellbeing. Meditation is what is needed, I am learning how to do this and so far I have only been able to do it for roughly 5 minutes. That is the beauty of this class and this life; personal growth and flourishing are all up to me. I can do this! I can be better! I will be better

Goals
To optimize life and get these ratings so much higher, I am going to implement more yoga, with relaxation poses at the end of each session, and I also will push my meditation sessions from 5 minutes to 10 and so on and so forth. I would like to find a peaceful place in my heart where my stress cannot reach me and my spirit can soar. I have implemented my activities within my goals section because I know that the activities I have given examples of will help me reach my goals. If these activities don’t seem to work, then I will start over and go back to being physical, as in running harder and weight training which I like but I feel that venturing more in this direction with my new circuit training may better suite my needs as of now.

 Relaxation

That clip was very relaxing, I got to a point where I was almost asleep. My mind wandered and wandered. I know for sure I will have to do this again, when my kids aren’t pestering me and I can actually have peace to listen to his soothing voice more thoroughly. Activities such as this can be beneficial for so many. Taking time to find a quiet place to get out of your own head really may be just the ticket for some. I am my own worst enemy so these are really beneficial. I will listen again and post more about it later. Stay tuned………….

  1. Sara,

This is a great post that is very easy to follow. I feel like I ramble in my posts. :) Your goals are wonderful and I too have vowed to add more yoga into my life. I love circuit training as well and get quickly bored with the same ol same ol as far as workouts go so mixing it up is a great way to keep looking forward to that workout. Have you ever tried zumba? It's something I can do with my sons in the house which is lovely. I always have a child or a dog underfoot so finding a workout I can do indoors (that way weather or a sitter is never an excuse) is a great thing for me. I totally fell asleep during the relaxation meditation haha. But hey it did it's job!

    Great post!

  2. Sara,
I love the fact that you make a concerted effort to make sure that you and your family get enough time outside each and every day. This seems to be a daily argument in my household with my teenage kids due to all of the indoor distractions (TV, video games etc) I have to nag like crazy just to get either of the kids outside, but I know in the long run that it is good for them. I always feel so much more relaxed and refreshed when I have spent some good, productive time outside in the fresh air.

  3. Great post! I enjoyed the relaxation piece. I ended up doing it twice because I feel asleep before it ended, both times actually. I love the feeling of being able to have a method to clear my mind of all the rambling thoughts that keep me awake. I am not a very organized person, more take things as they come and that helps not to be too stressed until I leave things to the last minute.

  4. Wonderful blog. I love the five guiding principles as an approach to ingetral health and healing. I have found that most people who practice this approach that I know all deal with health issues and life's issues very well. I plan to train my thoughts to help me with addressing some of my health challenges. Again, loved the blog.
